How Safe is Your Equipment? Discover the Power of IK Ratings!
IK10 is a rating defined by the 62262 standard (also known as EN 62262), which classifies the degree of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts. It’s widely used in CCTV cameras, access control devices, and other security systems to indicate their IECvandal resistance.
Here’s a list of IK ratings and the corresponding impact resistance they represent:
IK00 – No protection against impact.
IK01 – Protected against 0.15 joules
IK02 – Protected against 0.2 joules
IK03 – Protected against 0.35 joules
IK04 – Protected against 0.5 joules
IK05 – Protected against 0.7 joules
IK06 – Protected against 1 joule (e.g., a 1 kg object dropped from a height of 20 cm).
IK07 – Protected against 2 joules (e.g., a 1.25 kg object dropped from a height of 40 cm).
IK08 – Protected against 5 joules (e.g., a 2.5 kg object dropped from a height of 30 cm).
IK09 – Protected against 10 joules (e.g., a 5 kg object dropped from a height of 20 cm).
IK10 – Protected against 20 joules (e.g., a 5 kg object dropped from a height of 40cm).
