What is (PoE) Injector?
⭕ What is (PoE) Injector
A PoE injector is a small device that injects power into a standard Ethernet cable, enabling it to carry both data and electrical power to a connected device This eliminates the need for a separate power cable
✅ Here’s how a PoE injector works:
◼ Power Input: The injector receives power from a standard AC power outlet.
◼ Data Input: The injector receives data from a network switch through a standard Ethernet cable.
◼ Power Injection: The injector combines the data and electrical power into a single signal using PoE standards like 802.3af (PoE) or 802.3at (PoE+).
◼ PoE Output: The combined data and power signal is sent through another Ethernet cable to the powered device (PD).
Use Cases for PoE Injectors:
✔ Powering devices in remote locations: PoE injectors are ideal for powering devices like IP cameras, VoIP phones, or wireless access points in areas where access to a power outlet is limited or inconvenient (ceilings, walls, etc.).
✔Adding PoE capability to non-PoE switches: If your existing network switch doesn’t support PoE but you have PoE-compatible devices, an injector allows you to utilize them without upgrading the switch.
