With the introduction of WiFi 6/7 and 5G indoor Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), the demands on network speed increase considerably. Conventional cabling systems such as Category 6A , which were previously sufficient, are reaching their capacity limits. The industry is therefore faced with the challenge of implementing modern and future-proof solutions that meet the high data transmission rates demanded by these applications and are reliable and flexible at the same time.

The solution: Hybrid cabling FO / Power:

R&M’s hybrid fiber optic/power cabling is a powerful and flexible solution that enables the transmission of data and power from a central floor distributor or building distributor

✅️Variants of structured hybrid cabling solutions:

“Digital Ceiling” solution up to 90m PL

Avoid limited range: With Cat.8.1 cabling, ranges of only 30-50 meters are possible, which severely restricts the placement of devices.

1️⃣ Improve commercial availability:

Network devices with 40Base-T technology are difficult to obtain, despite the existence of the IEEE standard.

2️⃣ Power supply for active devices:

The existing RJ45 LAN cabling can be used to power the network devices (with PoE power supply protocol).
FO data cabling can be implemented with solutions from FTTO (Fibre to the Office).

3️⃣ Hybrid Service Outlet:

FO cabling and copper cabling meet at the service outlet.
Extension of the service outlets: The existing service outlets / zone distributor concepts only need to be extended by the corresponding number of FO ports.

✅️ Application-specific solution up to 200m PL

1️⃣ Longer transmission distances:

The hybrid FO/Power cable enables distances of 200m with a power requirement of 90W.

2️⃣ Centralized cabling structures:

Creation of collapsed backbone structures without floor distributors.
Connection boxes: Ensure that one LC duplex and one RJ45 connection are available.

3️⃣ No copper data cables:

Copper data cables are unsuitable for data transmission over long distances, as the transmission rate drops massively with longer links.

4️⃣ Hybrid FO/Power installation cable:

Developed by R&M, contains two FO fibers and two AWG 16 wires.
RJ45 Power: RJ45 connection module for service outlets and 19’’ panels with spring terminal connections and distribution of +/- to the RJ45 pins.

5️⃣ Non-standardized pin assignment:

Different connection modules required depending on the end device, as pinout of +/- is not standardized.
